Our Story

Denver Kittens was officially founded in 2024.

Our founder, Niki, originally started out fostering kittens and cats for other rescues. In November of 2017, she lost her soul kitty, Tecwyn, and she wanted a way to honor him, so she contacted a local rescue and asked about fostering. That’s how her cat Ruthie walked into her life. She was her first foster, and she ended up adopting her - the kitty who started all of this. Five years and nearly 300 cat and dog fosters later, she knew it was time to do more.

After seeing so many kittens suffer, so many cats and dogs lose their home, get dumped or left to fend for themselves on the streets, and animal after animal on euthanasia lists at shelters, she became passionate about spay and neuter.

At Denver Kittens, we believe spay and neuter is the only true way to end the suffering of so many animals, while reducing overpopulation.

We rescue not only kittens but also focus on adult cats who may otherwise have trouble finding rescue or homes, such as FIV+ and cats who need to be only-cats. Want to join us? Sign up to foster.

Mission:
  • Provide free and low-cost spay and neuter for cats and kittens

  • Support Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) efforts
